The penalty for computer related crimes include prison sentence not less then 3 months and not to exceed 2 years in addition to a fine varying between 100 and 500 RO. Such crimes include:

  1. Dissemination of Illegal Data or Information.
  2. Unauthorized access into computer systems.
  3. Spying and retrieval of unauthorized data and information.
  4. Hacking and tress passing into private domains and forgery of programs.
  5. Destroying or altering or deleting data or information.
  6. Collecting data or information then reusing it.
  7. Dissemination of data and information.
  8. Illegal reproduction of products that are copyrighted.
  9. Whatever action that may electronically illegal in future.

Subject (276) repeated (1): The penalty includes a prison sentence not less then 6 month and not to exceed 2 years. In addition to a fine varying between 100 and 500 RO. This applies to anyone who has illegal data or information by spying, retrieval and unauthorized access or hacking and tress passing into the computer systems of others.

Subject (276) repeated (2): The penalty is increased if the crimes that are mentioned above on subject (276) repeated (1) for computer users. Subject (276) repeated (3): Prison term for the following crimes is no more then 5 years including a fine up to 1000 RO.

  1. Duplication of credit cards or ATM cards.
  2. Intentional use of duplicated and / or of forged credit cards.

Subject (276) repeated (4): The penalty includes prison sentence not more then 3 years including a fine that does not exceed 500 RO. This applies to the following:

  1. Intentional use of over limit credit cards.
  2. Intentional use of credit cards after it has been cancelled or expired.
